The Hierophant
Today, I pledge myself
Not to god, but to some
Dick who lives in Rome –
To live by alms
And take on poverty
Residing in a palace
With a gold-layed throne room
Today, I pledge myself
Forsaking the life of flesh
To be in holy bliss
To give up a life of family
And marriage and children
For a life of prostitutes
And mistresses and illegitmate children
Today, I pledge myself
Upon thy holy orders
To take upon this mantle
Absolving the sins of my sins
And the centuries of my sins
Carrying the cross upon
My blood-stained hands

CARD DRAWN:

V – THE HIEROPHANT
THIS IS THE TAROT CHALLENGE, a 78-day writing challenge where everyday I pick out a random card from my tarot deck and write something about, against, inspired by, based on the card by the day’s end. The works can range from poetry to fiction to drama. When the card is from the major arcana, the title of the work should be the card name. When the card is from the minor arcana, the title can be different but the card drawn should be revealed at the end.
