The World

I

Shall we cower in a bunker?

Shall we read piles of books?

Make amends with our parents?

Or splurge on a Prius?

Shall we hike through Zimbabwe?

Shall we see all our friends?

Maybe jump from a cliff?

Or make out with a priest?

CHORUS:

‘Cuz, baby, if the Mayans were right,

Then we don’t have much time,

Months from now, we’re gone

Singing our song in heaven above;

‘Cuz, baby, if the Mayans were right,

Then you and I don’t have much time,

Months from now, where’ll we be?

As long as I’m with you, baby, I’m free

II

Shall we fly across the world

And take lots of pictures of us?

Shall we samba in the rain?

Or befriend Tyra Banks?

Shall we shoot illegal drugs?

Shall we shave our heads?

Might go shopping in Paris

Or snorkeling in Atlantis.

(REPEAT CHORUS)

BRIDGE:

If the Mayans were right,

Baby, shall we make love tonight?

Shall we spend each day

Loving, come what may.

If the Mayans were right,

Don’t give in, let’s fight.

One last night at the Ritz,

Make me immortal with your kiss.

Immortal with your kiss!

(REPEAT CHORUS 2x)

CARD DRAWN:

XXI – THE WORLD

HERE ENDS THE TAROT CHALLENGE, a 78-day writing challenge where everyday I picked out a random card from my tarot deck and wrote something about, against, inspired by, based on the card by the day’s end. The works ranged from poetry to fiction to drama. When the card came from the major arcana, the title of the work had to be the card name. When the card came from the minor arcana, the title could be different but the card drawn had to be revealed at the end.

WHEW! 78 DAYS! A post-script/reflection to be posted on the entire challenge tomorrow! And watch out — give me some time to revise — and I’m coming up with an ebook compiling all 78! 🙂
