Flashdance…What a Feeling
Come now, good baker of the earth,
mould the ground to the syncopated
song of the earth; Come, wise
engineers, wielders of metal,
plan the rising tempo; Come,
laborers, my blue-collared
children, bask in me and drop
your hammers and chiseles
and put away your nail,
sway now atop your frames,
inside your cubicles, within
your mines; Laugh! and Sing!
and Dance! Chime now and move,
raising higher, let your
tired bodies rest as their
spirits mingle with
the creator.

This is the 100 Songs Project, a 100-day writing challenge based on AFI’s 100 Years…100 Songs. Every day, I write a short poem, prose piece, or play based on, reacting to, rejecting, accepting, or doing something related to one of the songs in the top 100 list.
