The Author
Hailed as one of the greatest playwrights this generation has produced, Riley Palanca is a budding writer and theatre artist. He was once a Theatre major before shifting to Creative Writing at the University of the Philippines, Diliman. His thesis production Delight || Delirium, a festival of four one-act plays wherein he served as playwright and production manager, has been critically acclaimed by online reviewers and theatre practitioners alike. He currently operates “Deelaytful,” a critically-acclaimed literary blog. “A Foolish Journey,” his first ebook collection of prose, poetry, and plays, was released released last November.
He enjoys horseback riding, culinary arts and archery. To be honest though, he is not really a writer, just an alcoholic with a laptop. He is also a bit of slut.
That last line is magic. Pure magic.
Thank you! I hope you find the rest of the blog magical too. 🙂
You sure know how to make me laugh… Nice!!!
Thanks! I live to entertain! lol. I love your blog, by the way. Great poems
If you can entertain as well as write, your life will be exciting.
Such kind words. Thanks! It has been quite a surf lately.
first of all, a thanks for liking my recent post Letting Go on my Not In India 2012 blog. And also for bringing me here. I beg to differ with your description of yourself as not a writer but an alcoholic with a laptop. I’ve done some exploring here and your writing is superb! I love the tarot challenge as well. I look forward to reading more of your work. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
The pleasure’s all mine, I enjoy reading the works here. To be honest, I haven’t explored lots of features of wordpress, it’s only recently that I discovered how easy it is to search for other poets and writers as well. LOL. Thank you for the kind words, sadly the tarot writing challenge ends in a week 🙂 Watch out for a killer ending!
I actually haven’t figured that out yet!!! Could you tell me how it is done? 😀 Others find me, but would love to be able to find others as well.
thanks. And look forward to the “killer” at the end of the week. 🙂
oh, just go to the “topics” tab at the dashboard and it shows a cloud of tags. I just hit poetry and try to read as much as I could take whenever I go online. lol.
Thank you for visiting my blog and liking X-Ray My Heart – I love your writing!! What a treat! Come on over to visit any time.
Thank you for reading my work as well. It was a pleasure reading your blog 🙂
Thanks for the follow, Riley.
No problem. I love how you talked about the writer’s lifestyle and getting laid. Could totally relate 😛
Loved the last two lines.
lol. thanks!
Thanks for liking my blog entry! And hey, all the best artists were either alcoholics or sluts or both… 😉
lol. Thanks for reading my blog as welL! 🙂
look forward to looking around, am a bit of a tarotist my self. thanks for stopping by
Thank you! I am very flattered that a tarot reader is reading my blog. I do consider myself a novice reader (I’m not very good, having retired for more than a year) and one of the reasons I am engaging in this challenge is to get back in tune with the cards.
Hi, Thx for liking my post! Hope it gives you some inspiration ^-^
Indeed, it did! Keep on writing.
The alcoholic line is classic!
Im going to steal it!!!
lol. Thanks. It’s paraphrased from someone, sadly, I just can’t remember who. As you know, 90% of writing is stealing (just make sure you don’t get caught).
You caught the readers’ attention with your unique writing style.
Mabuhay! Cheers…
🙂
salamat! i hope you enjoyed my posts, especially the latest one (Bed of Roses)
Sure do. And I like your technique; the writing challenge of drawing a tarot card at random, then writing something about it. Shine on!
😉
the last two lines…are the real cliche
Ah, yes. As stated, the alcoholic thing was adapted from someone. (Although, to be honest, I am a bit proud of the slut thing — just how it fits with the rest). lol. Anyway, thanks for stopping by. 🙂
heh, its fine…….living life on a crazier side….i actually realll liked that part of ur attitude….
😛
Thanks for liking my posting. I’m pretty new at this and am appreciating input. I am humbled as it appears your writing is much more advanced. Plan to keep working at this and growing. Tx again
Thank you so much for reading! Just keep on writing, keep on writing, it’s a craft, it WILL get better. 🙂 Good luck 🙂
i totally agree with regards to continuous and persistent writing… it is a Craft and it will get better… and yes, feedback and criticism is very important. Without it, i mean where would the ideas, inspiration, determination and desire to ignite every syllable with value meaning come from? Amen!
lol. True that! Good luck to all of us out here, this is nont the easiest profession to get into.
Agreed! but never the less… work aside… all things must start in and end with love!
I can really relate to the alcoholic slut thing, you could be describing me. Thanks for following my modest blog 🙂
lol. Many thanks for dropping by as well!
Thank you for following my blog.
It was a pleasure to do so. 🙂
Thank you for the wonderful comment on my most recent post
Love the last part of your introduction
Just followed
All the best 😉
No problem, it was a beautiful work. I hope you find something enjoyable in my entries as well! 🙂
Just read your most recent post..Very talented indeed.. Of course, from UP 🙂
Wow! I never knew Filipino ka rin pala. Haha. Marami nang Pinoy sa WP. 🙂
I am…;)
Well, even if the ‘alcoholic with a laptop’ thing was adapted from another’s comments, that’s appropriate enough considering how many writers it would fit! 😉 I’m sure even from your introduction that it will be entertaining to look in on your work from time to time.
Cheers! (sipping a drink . . . )
Kathryn
Many thanks Kathryn! 🙂 Indeed, so many of them are like that! 🙂 Thank you stopping by my blog.

lol. Thanks 🙂
Thanks for visiting my blog and commenting. I laughed (snorted my water accidentally) reading this and I’m going to go peruse more of your blog now… 🙂
Many thanks for dropping by as well! Hope you enjoy browsing around here 🙂
Thanks for following my blog. I hope that you and I will comment often. The tarot card challenge is a brilliant idea. As a fellow tarot enthusiast, I spend many moments searching the cards for inspiration. I love the fact that you know who you are as a writer and you don’t sensor yourself. Write. Write. Write.
Thanks! Hahaha. To be honest, though, I am still searching for my voice as a writer, revising and all.Thank you dropping by the tarot challenge — I’m in the middle of revising it and releasing the whole thing as an ebook (late May) — hope you get the chance to pick it up and tell me what you think 🙂
Hi there, thanks for following my blog. I only know a little about Tarot, but I think using it as a writing prompt is a great idea. Tarot images are always so vivid; there always seems to be a story in there somewhere. I’m sure your pieces hold a whole other level of meaning for those who understand Tarot better.
I’ve read a few of your entries; so far, my favourite one is How to Be a Bitch. I may need to print that off and tape it to my bathroom mirror for a bit of extra inspiration to not put up with any bs. 🙂 I look forward to reading your other entries.
Great! Many thanks for stopping by. Your blog is really worth following 🙂 Indeed, tarot images, especially the popular 1910 tarot, are very evocative. I do hope you get to pick up the collection. I am revising it and releasing it soon. 🙂 An updated version of How to be a Bitch is there 😀 Thanks for dropping by again
I am also just an alcoholic with a laptop.
haha. we all are! Thanks for dropping by!

My pleasure. 🙂 Keep on writing.
Thank you will do! 😀
Thanks for the like! It means a lot to a new blogger like me.
Great blog. To all alcoholics with laptops, Hemingway can offer some advice: “Write drunk, edit sober.” Keep it up!
Hahaha. Welcome to blogging then, hope you keep it up.
And on a more serious note, we should emphasize the phrase “Edit sober” more. 🙂 Sure, write drunk is a good joke, but edit-edit-edit sober. 🙂
Thanks for the like fellow writer!
Well thank you for dropping by as well! 🙂

As someone who was in your shoes not so long ago, I just wanted to say chin up and keep pernsverieg! Fortune smiles upon people who work as hard as you do so do get discouraged. Eventually you’ll hit the mark with your editor and when that happens, everything will fall into place.Great post and best of luck.Barbara Wallace
